Certain foreign participants must have visa to enter Denmark to run the H.C. Andersen Marathon in Odense and it takes time to get visa for Denmark

* Citizens with diplomatic and service passports are exempt from the visa requirement.
** Holders of a "Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" passport, a "Região Administrativa Especial de Macau" passport or a "British National Overseas" passport are exempt from the visa requirement.
*** Citizens with diplomatic, special and service passports are exempt from the visa requirement.
**** Citizens with diplomatic passports are exempt from the visa requirement.
In order to get visa to Denmark for participating in the marathon, the procedure is as follows:
- The runner's organisation must ask in writing for an invitation from H.C. Andersen Marathon

To get a visa, the runner must have an invitation from the organisation H.C. Andersen Marathon. The request for an invitation must be via the runner’s organisation. That is, the runner’s organisation must send a letter to H. C. Andersen Marathon asking for an invitation for the runner to run in the H.C. Andersen Marathon. The request must be in writing and on official stationary from the runner’s organisation.

The request must contain the runners: Birth, licence, passport no. and adress.

or by e-mail to: info@hcamarathon.dk The request must be enclosed as a PDF file.
- H.C. Andersen Marathon sends an invitation to the runner and a copy to the nearest Danish authority in the runner’s country.
- When H.C. Andersen Marathon has received the correct filled request, the invitation is sent to the runner and a copy is sent to the Danish authority in the country of the runner in question.
H.C. Andersen Marathon can hereafter NOT be of anymore service with regard to the visa application.
- The runner must apply for visa to Denmark using among other things the invitation as documentation.
- The runner must contact the Danish authorities for answer.
- The runner must contact the Danish authorities for answer in his/her country in order to get an answer to their application.
- The Danish authorities have a long processing time. (6-8 weeks)
Unfortunately,
H. C. Andersen Marathon is NOT informed if a visa application is denied!
H. C. Andersen Marathon has NO influence on Danish authorities with regard to the approval/denial of a visa application!
